Bread Jam

Bread Jam Recipe:


250 g plain flour
5 g yeast
25 g sugar
1/2 tablespoon salt
110 ml warm water
1 egg, Beaten, Divided Use
25 g butter, Softened
1/2 cup apple jam


In a bowl, mix the flour, yeast, sugar and salt. Mix for 1 minute. Then add water and half of the beaten egg. Mix. Add butter and mix until smooth. Knead by hand until smooth and elastic, about 10 minutes.Cover the dough and let rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes. After that, punch the dough down and make a big round ball and let rise for 10 minutes longer.Now out the dough and roll it with a rolling pin until you have about a 12 x10 inch rectangle which is about 1/4 inch thick.
Place apple jam into the dough. I used apple jam but store-bought is fine. Spread over the entire surface of the dough while allowing an edge of about 1 cm around the rectangle - so that no jam oozing. Roll the dough into a log. Cut the log into 7 equal slices using a sharp knife.
Place slices of dough in a greased pan. I stagger them, placing the cut sides next to each other and form the dough into a wheat stem. I did this in the photo above.Allow increase for 10 minutes. Next brush the remaining beaten on top of the bread egg. Bake at 200 ° C for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
